Gauteng police report that their investigation into the murder of 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek is at an advanced stage.
The grade five learner's bruised body was discovered on the staircase of his family's Fleurhof complex in Johannesburg. He was laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery on Saturday.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo explained that the inquest docket, initially opened when Jayden-Lee was reported missing, has been reclassified as a murder case following an intensive inquiry.
"An inquest docket that was opened after an 11-year-old boy was reported missing and later found deceased in Fleurhof has now been changed into murder. This is following an intensive investigation. We can confirm that the investigation is at an advanced stage. But no one has been arrested so far."
