In honour of the SABC News 75th Anniversary, we take a look at the memorable highlights of the organisations history since its first broadcast on 17 July 1950.
The first South African Broadcasting Corporations news radio bulletin went live from the Broadcast House on Commissioner Street in Johannesburg.
This was after the National Party NP took power in 1948 and began implementing its racial segregation policy of apartheid.
Since then, various changes in the political arena have been reflected at the SABC.
This began showing the enlightened views of some of the National Party leaders - known as the verligtes - who were advocating for reform.
