The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said it it is currently scrutinising 144 applications for registration as political parties ahead of the 2027 General Election.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, disclosed this in a statement Thursday in Abuja.
He also revealed that ahead of the November governorship election in Anambra, INEC registered 168,187 fresh voters.
Olumekun said though these are preliminary figures pending data clean-up, the detailed breakdown shows that 97,832 58 are female while 70,355 42 are male.
