India openerRohit Sharmawas left visibly surprised after he was adjudged caught behind by the third umpire during the second ODI of the three-match series against South Africa at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. Rohit was dismissed for 14 off 8 in an innings which comprised three fours.
The tourists went up half-heartedly after Rohit played-and-missed a length delivery angling away from Nandre Burger on the fifth ball of the fifth over of the match. The on-field umpire was not convinced whether there was any sort of bat involved. The Proteas went up to challenge the decision. To Rohit's extreme surprise, he had indeed nicked the ball behind, as confirmed by the DRS replay on air.
While speaking with Yashasvi Jaiswal between the decision being reviewed and the final decision popping up on the big screen, Rohit had conveyed that the ball went through to the keeper after nipping away off the seam and that he did not feel as if he had made any contact. However, Rohit found his claim to be wrong a few moments afterwards, as the television visuals suggested otherwise.
