Senuran Muthusamy brought up his maiden Test ton in what was a truly remarkable display of batting from the batting all-rounder. He headlined the day with 109 off 206. He put on two substantial partnerships with Kyle Verreynne 45 off 122 and Marco Jansen 93 off 91 to push South Africa to a fighting total.
Jansen was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. The tall all-rounder was Kuldeep's fourth wicket of the innings. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja finished with two wickets apiece. By the time the day concluded, India did not lose any wickets with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul at the crease. All three of Wiaan Mulder's overs were maiden overs.
