Ikenne Named Host Of 2025 Nwfl Premiership Super Six Tourney

The Nigeria Women Football League NWFL has announced Ikenne, Ogun State, as the official host of the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six Tournament, marking a landmark return of top-tier women's football to the South West for the first time since 2021.
The decisive championship playoff will run from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 17, 2025, at the Remo Stars Stadium, home to newly promoted Remo Stars Ladies. This is the first time Ikenne will host the elite competition, a notable milestone just two years after the local side secured their promotion to the topflight at the same venue.
Confirming the decision, NWFL Chairperson, Ms. Nkechi Obi, said: "On behalf of the board and management of the NWFL, I congratulate Ikenne and Ogun State on being selected to host this year's NWFL Premiership Super Six. This is a significant opportunity to further stimulate the revival of women's football in the state fondly remembered as host of the inaugural Women's Africa Cup of Nations finals in 1998 and to elevate the profile of the women's game nationwide. Last year, we hosted the competition in Yenagoa, South South, and now we are excited to bring it to Ikenne in the South West, in line with our WomenFootballRising agenda to spread elite women's football across every region of Nigeria."
The Super Six, which will determine Nigeria's national champions, will feature six top clubs competing in a round-robin format, with each team playing five matches. Arrival of teams is set for May 8, while the draw and pre-match meeting will be held on May 9.
Already confirmed for the tournament are Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies, while the final spot will be decided on April 30, when Robo Queens face Naija Ratels in a winner-takes-all clash on Matchweek 14.
