The Inkatha Freedom Party IFP has called on Parliament to urgently improve the protection of its members.
This follows the killing of IFP MP and Deputy Chief Whip, Khethamabala Sithole.
He was shot dead in Katlehong on the East Rand on Saturday.
The motive for the attack is yet to be established.
The party's NEC member and Gauteng Secretary, Alderman Ngobese is in hospital after being shot and wounded in the same incident.
