In March, Africasairline passenger load factor (PLF) fell to 70,3% year-on-year from 72,2% in March 2023, while international PLF improved to 81,6%, Iata has revealed in its Air Passenger Market Analysis report.

African airlines' capacity increased in the month of March by 11% year-on-year. The continents PLF means that less than three-quarters of all the available seatswere soldin March, corresponding with marginal increases in demand and capacity.

African airlines saw only an 8,1% year-on-year increase in international demand compared with March 2023. By comparison, the global airline industry experienced a year-on-year growth of 18,9% in demand for air travel in March this year.

On the other hand, international air capacity went up 18,8% year-on-year.
