Nollywood actress Titilola Ajayi has issued a clarification following backlash over remarks made in a recent viral interview. The actress stated that her position was misunderstood, noting that she does not endorse domestic violence in any form. According to her, the point she attempted to make was that conflicts in relationships often have underlying causes, not that violence is ever justified.
She told Potpourri: "I want to make it absolutely clear that I do not support domestic violence under any circumstances. My comment in that interview was taken out of context, and it is important for me to correct that impression. What I meant was that disagreements in relationships usually have root causes that need to be addressed early, so they do not escalate. At no point did I suggest that violence is acceptable or excusable. I believe strongly in communication, mutual respect, and walking away from situations that threaten ones safety. No one deserves to be harmed, and I stand firmly against any act of abuse."
