Huawei has launched its second-generation trifold smartphone, the Mate XTs, at a global unveiling on September 4. Priced at 2,520 about ?3.8 million, the device expands on last year's Mate XT, which pioneered the trifold design.
Unlike conventional foldables, the Mate XTs uses dual hinges to expand into a tablet-sized screen designed for multitasking. It runs on HarmonyOS 5.1 and comes with a 5,600 mAh battery, marketed as a productivity tool with PC-like functions such as window stacking and resizing.
The Mate XT series has been a commercial hit for Huawei. By Q2 2025, it generated 1.3 billion in sales from 470,000 units, according to IDC. The company currently holds 75 of China's foldable market and has regained leadership in its home smartphone market with an 18 share.
