This weekend, 41 dedicated runners from the Groote Schuur Hospital Trust GSHT will hit the streets of Cape Town for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, aiming to raise funds for a critical cause: equipping Groote Schuur Hospital's new Emergency Centre with essential life-saving tools, Cape town Etc reports.

The team includes frontline staff from the hospital's Trauma and Emergency Units, alongside colleagues from the Radiography Department, all running to support the patients they care for daily. Their effort reflects the hospital's commitment to excellence, resilience, and compassionate public healthcare.

Adding further weight to the campaign, Groote Schuur Hospital CEO Dr Shaheem de Vries, Facility Board Chair Hassen Kajie, and GSHT Executive Director Kristy Evans will also be lacing up to show solidarity. Their participation highlights the urgent need to ensure the Emergency Centre, set to open in 2026, is fully equipped from day one.
