google rolls out option to change gmail address

Google has begun rolling out an option to change Gmail address, allowing some account holders to replace their existing gmail.com username without creating a new account or losing emails, photos or Drive files, reports Cape town Etc .

Under the guidance posted on Googles help pages, the user's old address becomes an alias and will continue to receive mail to the same inbox. Account access to services such as YouTube, Maps and Drive remains unchanged users may sign in with either the old or new address.

Google sets clear limits. An account can only generate a new gmail.com address up to three times and must wait 12 months before creating another new Gmail address. Some ChromeOS settings may require a backup before switching. 9to5Google
