The National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI Table Bay and NSRI Bakoven crews were called to the scene at 4:49pm, following urgent reports of bystanders attempting to resuscitate the child.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that during the high spring tide, the young boy, who was with his 13-year-old brother and their father, was suddenly pulled into the ocean. His sibling managed to escape the oncoming waves, but panic ensued as the child disappeared into the water.
