Gombe LG Targets 131,815 Under-Five Children for Polio Vaccination

The Gombe State Government has launched a polio immunization campaign targeting 131,815 under-five children in Gombe Local Government Area.

The Coordinator, Primary Healthcare Gombe Local Government, Aishatu Umar, disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony for the National Immunization Plus program.

The vaccination aims to build immunity against polio and other diseases. Umar expressed confidence in surpassing the target, as has been achieved in previous campaigns. The exercise involves two phases: street and market vaccination, followed by house-to-house vaccination. Trained teams, including supervisors, recorders, and announcers, will administer the vaccines.

Health Educator Shehu Wakili emphasized the importance of community support and urged parents to cooperate with the teams. Traditional and religious leaders were also called upon to support the exercise.

The Senior District Head, Alhaji Usman Shettima, and Acting Chairman of Gombe LGA, Alhaji Aliyu Dawaki, pledged their support for the campaigns success.

The vaccination program aims to improve the living conditions and health of under-five children in Gombe Local Government Area.
