global hotel brand debuts in east africa

Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton, opened in Nairobi at the end of March, marking the debut of the Curio Collection by Hilton brand in East Africa and Hiltons latest opening in the Kenyan capital.

The hotel is near the central business district, Gigiri, home to the United Nations headquarters, multiple embassies, and is on the edge of the Karura Forest. The forests attractions include a 50km nature trail for walking, running, and biking, a 12m-high waterfall, a series of caves, archaeological sites, and various animal species.

The property was formerly a historic home that was previously turned into a guest house, then transformed into a modern boutique hotel.

With 102 guest rooms and suites, Kwetu Nairobi comprises five interconnected buildings, each with a Swahili name that reflects the hotel's story.

Many of the rooms and suites have balconies and terraces with views of the forested landscape. The lobby bar and reception have high ceilings and a fireplace.

The 334sqm meeting and event spaces have large terraces, a state-of-the-art gym, spa, and pool. Major shopping malls are close to the hotel, such as Sarit, The Village Market, and Two Rivers Centre.

There are six food and beverage venues: 1893 Brew Bar (coffee bar); Meko (Mediterranean-inspired restaurant); Cool Waters (pool bar experience); Upepo (signature rooftop bar); Zabe (cocktail bar); and The Nomad (speciality restaurant that moves with the seasons).

Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection by Hilton is part of Hilton Honors, Hiltons guest loyalty programme. Members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount and free standard WiFi.

Hilton Honors members can check-in, choose their room, and access their room using a Digital Key.

Guy Hutchinson, President, Middle East and Africa, Hilton, said: 'This truly one-of-a-kind hotel will offer guests a unique experience when staying in Nairobi, whether travelling for business or looking to explore the incredible Kenyan sights and landscapes. Kwetu Nairobi signifies the opening of our second Curio property on the African continent, where we currently have over 100 properties, either trading or under development.
