Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee came under focus after South Africa beat India by 30 runs in the first Test.
However, the Eden Gardens pitch began to break down very fast. Later on day two they found that the pitch had not been watered for four days before the match. Later, the result was this made the surface very dry and tough to bat on. This step backfired on team India.
After the massive loss, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir told the media that it was not the pitch curators fault. However, the curator followed the instructions of the team and implemented according to managements requirements.
