The Sherpa of South Africas G20 presidency and Director-General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Zane Dangor, says both South Africa and the United States want the handover of the G20 presidency to be a low-key affair.
It will probably be done by a senior official from Dirco to a US diplomatic representative at the departments offices in Pretoria on Tuesday.
South Africa had made it clear on Saturday that the United States could not send its embassy charge daffaires to receive the presidency gavel from President Cyril Ramaphosa at the summit.
