In the vibrant landscape of South African music, a new star is rapidly gaining attention, illuminating the industry with a unique sound and a compelling story that resonates with both joy and sorrow.

Jabulani Majola, known by his stage name Jabulile, hails from the historic city of Pietermaritzburg, where life began for him under challenging circumstances. Just three days after his birth, Jabulile's mother disappeared, leaving him to find his way as a child in a Christian Children's Home in Greytown.

IOL spoke to Majola regarding his love of music, his background, and his current endeavours.

''I am not particularly good at coming up with or selecting stage names. I recall creating the worst stage names when I was a rapper in high school. Since Jabulile Majola is the name of my biological mother, I went with it. I don't know anything more about my biological mother than that.''

Despite these early adversities, Jabulile's journey has taken a remarkable turn. Now based in Cape Town, he has emerged as a riveting force within the music scene, known for his stirring tracks such as ''Woza Mntana'' and an acoustic version of Amagugu.
