Rafael Furcal, a three-time Major League Baseball All-Star shortstop, turned himself in at the Broward County jail to face two felony charges Wednesday, according to online records.
Furcal, 47, of Weston, is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and missile into dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft for an incident that happened on Monday, court records show.
Details about the case, investigated by the Broward Sheriff's Office, weren't immediately available Thursday, including the incident location. BSO is responsible for patrolling Weston, where Broward property records show Furcal owns a 5.1 million home in the gated Windmill Reserve community.
Furcal, a native of the Dominican Republic, spent 14 seasons at baseball's highest level, playing mostly for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers.
He wrapped up his career in South Florida in 2014, playing in nine games for the Miami Marlins.
