Co-ordinated police effort yields significant drug and weapon seizures, result in five arrested suspects. Members of the Western Cape Flying Squad and Metro Police joined forces on 31 July 2025 to act on a tip-off about illegal drug activity in Ravensmead.

According to a police statement, at approximately 14:30, officers stopped a silver VW Polo at a fast-food outlet on Robert Sobukwe Road. Their search uncovered 6 000 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R240 000. Two women and three men, aged between 24 and 32, faced immediate arrest on charges of drug possession.

The five suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before Bellville Magistrate's Court on Monday, 4 August 2025.

SAPS emphasised that this joint operation formed part of an ongoing effort to dismantle drug distribution networks across the province.

In a separate incident on 1 August 2025, Delft SAPS received information regarding an unlicensed firearm in Abedare Street, N2 Gateway, Delft.
