The death toll in the fatal crash on the N2 at Kwambonami on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Friday has risen to 5.
Road traffic inspectorate spokesperson Sindi Msimang says one of the two people injured in the crash, which claimed four lives, has passed away in hospital.
Its believed the crash was caused by a vehicle which had tried to overtake other traffic on a barrier line and collided head-on with oncoming vehicles.
