Ethiopia and China have taken a major step to deepen their partnership in the digital and emerging technology sectors, following a high-level bilateral dialogue held in Addis Ababa. The meeting, co-chaired by Ethiopia's Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla Getahun, and China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Lecheng, was themed "Digital Emerging Tech Industry Collaboration: Advancing Practical Cooperation for Sustainable Development."
The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the digital era, highlighting the importance of leveraging smart, future-focused solutions for sustainable development. Minister Belete Molla stressed that the partnership between Ethiopia and China goes beyond traditional diplomacy, describing it as a relationship built on shared vision, political trust, and mutual development goals.
Central to this collaboration is Ethiopia's Digital Transformation Agenda, which prioritizes the expansion of digital infrastructure, enhancement of e-government services, development of digital skills, and establishment of innovation hubs. These initiatives are designed to serve as the backbone of Ethiopia's long-term development strategy and to foster resilience in a rapidly evolving global digital economy.
