Eskom will implement an average electricity tariff hike of 8.7 for the 2026/27 financial year following approval by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa Nersa.
The adjustment will take effect from April 1 for customers who purchase electricity directly from Eskom.
The increase in tariffs is expected to place additional pressure on households and businesses, which are already struggling with the rising cost of living.
