Liverpool icon, Graeme Souness has voiced his disapproval of Manchester Uniteds acquisitions, singling out Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
Souness suggests that Casemiros struggle to adapt to the Premier Leagues pace and Varanes injury-prone nature indicate flawed decisions by the Red Devils management.
Despite Varanes impressive track record, injuries have sidelined him for a significant portion of his time at Old Trafford, while Casemiros form has dwindled since his promising debut season.
Souness questions the wisdom of Uniteds hefty investments in players who have not delivered the expected impact.
He made an appearance on William Hills Three Up Front podcast, where he said (via Manchester Evening News):
"Yeah he [Casemiro] can point to the medals which he won but he was a bit-player in a very special team. I never saw him coming to United and being the difference.
I saw him as 'he's okay, not a big player'. I think they've had their trousers taken with both Raphael Varane and him. If you've got something to offer Real Madrid don't sell you.
