In a dramatic display of teamwork and quick action, rescuers successfully aided two hikers in separate incidents across the Western Cape this past Sunday, Cape town Etc reports.
First, an 83-year-old British hiker was saved after collapsing from dehydration and heat exhaustion while hiking with a small group on a peak between Hermanus and Stanford.
According to Western Cape Search and Rescue WSAR spokesperson David Nel, a small rescue team, including a paramedic from the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness Emergency Medical Services EMS, was swiftly flown to the scene of the emergency.
