Cameroon U-17 Africa Cup of Nationswinning goalkeeper Ekoi Manfred Mekumba has completed a move to Zimbabwean top-flight side Platinum FC on a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper joins one of Zimbabwes most established clubs as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. Platinum FC are four-time Zimbabwean champions, last winning the league title in 2022, and finished sixth in the 18-team championship last season.
Ekoi rose to prominence after playing a key role in Cameroons U-17 AFCON triumph, before progressing to represent the Cameroon U23 Olympic team, continuing his rise through the national ranks.
A product of Best Stars Academy of Limbe, Ekoi has gained valuable experience both at home and abroad. He previously featured in the Spanish third tier, before returning to Cameroon to play for Yong Sport Academy and Bamboutos of Mbouda in the MTN Elite One.
His move to Platinum FC represents a significant step in his career, with the Zvishavane-based club expecting his arrival to add quality, competition and stability to their goalkeeping department as they target a stronger push for honours.
Ekoi is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately as preparations for the upcoming season continue.
