The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology MCIT of Egypt has announced the international recognition of Mahara-Tech, an educational platform developed by the Information Technology Institute ITI, for its outstanding contribution to digital learning and technological skill development across the Arab world. Mahara-Tech recently won the 2025 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education, underscoring its innovative approach to expanding access to high-quality, Arabic-language digital education.

Mahara-Tech was launched to empower Arab learners with future-ready technological skills and address two major challenges: the scarcity of specialized Arabic digital content and the growing digital skills gap in the region. The platform offers training programs in both Arabic and English, catering to learners of all ages and levels-from children and beginners to professionals and specialists seeking advanced upskilling opportunities.

A key feature of Mahara-Tech is its inclusive learning model, which integrates courses in sign language to ensure equal access for people with disabilities. The platform also partners with leading industry experts and universities to design training programs in high-demand technology domains, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and instructional design for educators and trainers.
