Eastern Cape police have arrested two police officers for alleged extortion outside Mthatha. It is reported the officers, aged between 24 and 30 were allegedly visiting taverns in Khambi location, requesting liquor trading licences and further demanding alcohol.
Police Spokesperson, Siphokazi Mawisa, says the officials are attached to the Public Order Policing unit.
Mawisa says police received a tip-off about officers in full uniform demanding alcohol in the area, and members of the Mthatha Crime Prevention Unit were immediately activated.
