Robert Maake of the Department of Minerals and Petroleum Resources explains, The reasons for these adjustments are as follows: the higher oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran during the period under review. The Rand strengthened against the dollar and cushioned the price by over 15c and 16c a litre. The MRP of LP gas is decreasing by 57 cents per kilogram due to lower prices of propane and butane. The Slate levy remains unchanged at zero cents per litre on the price structure of both petrol and diesel.
