Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic fought off exhaustion and overcame an ankle injury scare on Tuesday to secure his place in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters, defeating Spain's Jaume Munar 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
The gruelling victory keeps the Serbian star on course for a record-extending fifth title in Shanghai, with many of the tournament's top seeds already out of contention.
Despite appearing drained and in visible pain, the 38-year-old world number one found a late burst of energy to overpower his opponent-ten years his junior-by breaking him twice in the final set.
