A violent wave of suspected gang activity swept through multiple Cape Town neighbourhoods over the weekend, with Goodwood at the centre of a deadly drive-by attack that claimed one life and left three others injured.
The chaos erupted when four men travelling in a vehicle came under fire in the middle of the afternoon. Their driver, struck as bullets hit the car, lost control and smashed into a tree. The crash drew residents from surrounding homes as emergency crews arrived to find a 20-year-old man fatally wounded and three others, all in their twenties, needing urgent medical attention, as reported by the Daily Voice .
Goodwood Community Policing Forum chairperson Abdullah Sydney confirmed that early indications suggest gang involvement, although whether the shooting was a planned hit or a retaliatory strike remains unclear. He said details are still emerging, and authorities are working to piece together the events that led to the ambush.
