Moroccos Brahim Daz has apologised and taken full responsibility for his missed penalty in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON final on Sunday.
Senegal emerged a 1-0 victors after extra-time at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, earning their second continental title in five years to deny Morocco the trophy after a 50-year wait.
Daz was brought down in the Senegalese box by El Hadji Malick Diouf in stoppage time at the end of the second half. Referee Jean-Jacques Ndala did not pay the incident much attention at first, but was called to review the foul by VAR after Dazs incensed reaction.
