Former Premier League referee David Coote has admitted to making an indecent image of a child , the most serious category A offence, at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
The 43-year-old appeared in court wearing a navy suit and black tie, speaking only to confirm his identity and enter his guilty plea during the brief six-minute hearing. The charge relates to material recovered by police in February.
Judge Nirmal Shant granted Coote conditional bail and ordered him to return to court on December 11. A pre-sentence report has also been commissioned to inform sentencing. "You have pleaded guilty to a serious matter," the judge said, adding that the decision on whether Coote would face custodial sentence would follow once all information was reviewed.
