The Democratic Alliance DA has submitted a Promotion of Access to Information Act PAIA application to the African National Congress ANC as it ups its pressure on Higher Education and Training Minister Dr Nobuhle Nkabane.

The application has been delivered to the ANCs Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg, DA national spokesperson Karabo Khaukhau said on Friday 11 July.

DAs PAIA request to ANC on Nkabanes SETA picks

The DA wants the ANC to come clean on their knowledge of Minister Nobuhle Nkabane's cadre deployment to the Sector Education and Training Authorities SETA Boards.

The Minister is accused of misleading Parliament about her appointment of an independent panel that she claimed had helped her make the SETA appointments.

Several individuals she claimed were part of the panel have since denied playing a role, including the respected Advocate Terry Motau, who denied being the panels chairperson.

Nkabane was forced to reverse the appointments after allegations of ANC patronage. This is because she had appointed several ANC-linked individuals, such as the son of the partys National Chairperson Gwede Mantashe.

Now the ANC must make public its knowledge and role in this serious cadre deployment corruption, Khakhau said.

We will uncover how and when the ANC party became involved in the process or became aware of the process Minister Nkabane was running.

We will also seek to uncover if Luthuli House strategised and cooperated with Nkabane once the crime of lying to Parliament had been exposed.

The DA has laid criminal charges, filed an ethics complaint in Parliament and filed a Public Protector complaint against the Minister.
