The Democratic Alliance DA says it will seriously consider tabling a motion of no confidence in President Cyril Ramaphosa if he and the African National Congress ANC do not course-correct.
DA leader John Steenhuisen issued the warning at a media briefing on Saturday 28 June.
The party held the briefing after Ramaphosa failed to meet its 48-hour ultimatum to remove ANC ministers and deputy ministers it alleges are implicated in wrongdoing or corruption.
This follows the Presidents decision to fire the DAs Andrew Whitfield as Trade, Industry and Competition Deputy Minister earlier this week.
DA withdraws from National DialogueSteenhuisen accused Ramaphosa of refusing to act against corruption in his own ranks, adding that the DA sees no further point in wasting our breath in endless talk shops with the ANC until he replaces words with action.
For that reason, the Federal Executive of the DA has resolved to withdraw from the National Dialogue with immediate effect, he announced.
In the absence of a President who is prepared to take action against VBS looters and state capture accused sitting around his own Cabinet table, it is clear that this Dialogue will be nothing more than a waste of time and money to distract from the ANC's failures.
DA to vote against budget votesSteenhuisen also announced that the DA would vote against departmental budget votes for departments led by Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane, Higher Education and Training Minister Nobuhle Nkabane, and other corruption-accused ANC Ministers.
We will keep voting against those departmental votes until those Ministers are removed, he declared.
In this way, the DA will strike the appropriate balance by allowing the broader GNU government of national unity budget process to proceed to ensure the stability of the country, while forcing the ANC to act against specific Ministers.
