The Democratic Alliance DA in Tshwane has dismissed the African National Congress ANC claims that Tshwane City Manager Johann Mettlers appointment was unlawful.
Former Tshwane mayor and DA caucus leader Cilliers Brink has defended Mettlers appointment, stating he was selected for his professional expertise, qualifications, and experience.
Brink argued that if there were issues with Mettlers appointment, the Co-operative Governance MEC would have raised concerns in 2022 when the appointment was made.
Mettler, who is not a politician and is the best of the municipal manager, doesnt get involved in politics, his obviously taking a clear objective of the law that he wants to preserve the integrity of the city and that doesnt suit the ANC. It is now important that the Mayor of Tshwane makes her position clear, says Brink.
