The Democratic Alliance in Tshwane says the Metro has failed to remove illegal structures or address relocation. This is despite Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreibers law enforcement operation in Plastic View and Cemetery View informal settlements in Pretoria East earlier this year.
The party says that following Schreibers action to deport undocumented foreign nationals, the municipality had the opportunity to demolish unoccupied structures and prevent reoccupation.
DA Tshwane Spokesperson for Housing and Human Settlements, Shaun Wilkinson, says the Metros inaction has allowed the problem to persist, burdening residents and ratepayers.
