His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II inaugurated the Aqaba Digital Hub on Tuesday, marking a historic milestone in Jordan's digital transformation journey. The hub represents the Kingdom's first fully integrated digital infrastructure project and one of the largest data and technology facilities in the region. Located in Aqaba, the project is designed to position Jordan as a regional digital gateway and a hub for connectivity linking Asia, Africa, and Europe through advanced data, cloud, and AI technologies.
During his visit, Crown Prince Al Hussein toured the facilities and was briefed by Eyad Abu Khorma, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Aqaba Digital Hub. Built entirely through Jordanian expertise, the facility spans approximately 17,000 square meters and has an operational capacity of up to 12 megawatts. The infrastructure is ready to host artificial intelligence AI technologies and other emerging digital services, reinforcing Jordan's ambitions to become a leader in regional technology and innovation.
Abu Khorma explained that the Aqaba Digital Hub houses Jordan's first marine cable landing station operating under an open-access policy, giving it direct and independent connectivity to international networks. The hub currently connects through three submarine cables, with two additional cables under development, significantly enhancing the Kingdom's role as a central point of connection between continents. This connectivity will strengthen Jordan's digital resilience and provide greater redundancy for regional data traffic.
