The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa Numsa says it is satisfied after the Northern Cape High Court extended the provisional liquidation of Ekapa Mine in Kimberley instead of granting a final liquidation order.
The union says it opposed the liquidation application, arguing it would negatively impact workers. This follows a deadly mud rush in February that claimed the lives of five miners.
The matter has now been postponed to the 30th of October.
