cosatu threatens legal action to force nw transport investment to pay workers

COSATU is threatening to approach the Labour Court in a bid to compel the embattled North-West Transport Investment to pay its employees their outstanding salaries. Some workers, mostly bus drivers, mechanics, porters and cleaners, have not received their salaries since the beginning of the year.

The provincial government has since placed the entity under administration. This after it was plunged into a financial crisis with allegations of mismanagement and corruption that have compounded. Workers benefits, including pension funds, have been severely affected.

The embattled entity renders public transportation services in parts of Gauteng and North West.
