Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, who have been convicted on human trafficking charges, are expected to appear in the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town today ahead of sentencing procedures next week in Saldanha Bay.

Earlier this month, the court found that the State proved beyond reasonable doubt that six-year-old Joshlin Smith was kidnapped and exchanged for payment or the promise of payment by her own mother, Kelly Smith, and her two co-accused.

The State intends to lead expert evidence on trafficking in persons and victim impact statements during sentencing procedures.

Sentencing procedures will begin on Tuesday.

Six-year-old Joshlin disappeared from her Middlepos home in Saldanha Bay on the 19th of February last year.
