Police say they are increasingly uncovering large drug consignments hidden on private plots across Gauteng, a trend thats become a growing concern for law enforcement. In the latest discovery, a R20 million worth of narcotics was found at a property in Midrand, adding to a series of high-profile busts this year. Its another major breakthrough for South African law enforcement and another sign of how drug syndicates continue to adapt. Police swooped on a Midrand property following an intelligence-led operation, uncovering cocaine valued at around R20 million, neatly packaged and ready for distribution. The discovery forms part of a wider national crackdown on organised crime. So far this year, over 180 suspects linked to major drug syndicates have been arrested, with police attributing the spike in busts to improved intelligence coordination and cross-border cooperation. However, as syndicates shift operations from inner-city warehouses to isolated plots and estates, police say the battle against narcotics is far from over. In similar fashion, last month, police bust a drug manufacturing plot in Mpumalanga and seized narcotics worth over R350 million. With millions worth of illicit drugs seized and dozens behind bars, authorities say the focus now is to dismantle the entire supply chain from the manufacturers to the street dealers.
