A driver was killed in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on the M4 Northern Freeway near the Broadway off-ramp in Durban North.
Spokesperson for a private ambulance service, Garrith Jamieson, said emergency responders arrived on the scene to find both vehicles extensively damaged.
"Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos and carnage as the two badly damaged vehicles obstructed the roadway. A quick triage was done whilst the eThekwini Fire Department and more ambulances were dispatched to assist. Two occupants in the light motor vehicle were found severely entrapped in the wreckage with critical injuries. The passenger, a female believed to be in her 20s, had sustained multiple injuries, and unfortunately, there was nothing paramedics could do for her she was declared deceased on scene. The driver had sustained critical injuries and once stabilised on the scene, was transported to a nearby Hospital for the urgent care that he required. Two occupants on the second vehicle had also sustained moderate injuries and were also transported to a nearby Hospital for further care that they required."
