The City of Cape Town Traffic Services says it has issued fines to 250 pedestrians found unlawfully walking on the citys motorways since the start of this month.
The flouting of traffic laws happened despite the citys extensive pedestrian awareness and education initiatives .
Spokesperson Kevin Jacobs says their direct engagements with pedestrians prior to the festive season were aimed at prevention, understanding and voluntary compliance.
