The final matchday of Betway Premiership action in South Africa saw heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs miss out on qualification for the MTN8, Cape Town City moved out of the relegation playoff zone at least temporarily, and Stellenbosch FC secured third place.

Stellenbosch played out a goalless draw with Western Cape rivals Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium the point was enough to boost both teams ambitions, thanks to results elsewhere.

Stellies claimed third place and qualification for next seasons CAF Confederation Cup thanks to fourth-placed Sekhukhune United losing 3-2 away to Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Abafana Besthende defeated Babino Noko who ended with nine men after sendings off for both Shaune Mogaila and Ngoanamello Rammala thanks to an own goal from Tresor Yamba and strikes by Nhlanhla Zwane and Sbonelo Cele. The win also guaranteed safety for Arrows.

Cape Town City, meanwhile, have Richards Bay to thank for their rise out of the relegation playoff zone, as the Natal Rich Boyz handed SuperSport United a 2-0 defeat at the Peter Mokaba Stadium goals from Yanela Mbuthuma and Thulani Gumede.
