About 150 students gathered outside the College of Cape Town's Crawford campus on Tuesday morning to protest.
The group, reportedly protesting over undisclosed grievances, gathered along Kromboom Road and brought traffic to a standstill, as Cape town Etc reported. Various objects were placed across the roadway and a fire was ignited to block access to the institution.
City Traffic Services spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhot said demonstrators also prevented students from leaving the premises. The disruption prompted an immediate police response, as Smile FM has reported.
