A remarkable transformation is underway in Cape Town, where the city's innovative solar initiatives have not only bolstered the renewable energy sector but also contributed significantly to local economic growth, reports Cape town Etc .
Between 2014 and 2024, the City's small-scale embedded solar Photovoltaic PV programme has facilitated investments ranging from R1.7 billion to R2.6 billion and has created between 713 to 1,140 full-time equivalent jobs.
As of mid-2025, the power generated from these initiatives is now enough to supply electricity to approximately 150,000 homes.
