Cape Town's enforcement agencies reported a noticeable easing in emergency calls and incident volumes over the first weekend of January, offering early signs that the festive rush has begun to taper off across the city.
Operational updates shared by municipal authorities show that the Public Emergency Communication Centre PECC dispatched assistance to 1 322 incidents between Friday and Sunday, 2-4 January, marking a 28,5 decrease compared with the previous weekend.
The earlier period had recorded 1 850 call-outs, placing added pressure on frontline responders.
