The City of Cape Town has reiterated its strict stance against the illegal sale, storage, and detonation of fireworks, emphasising that only approved displays with valid permits are permitted.
This crackdown comes as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public safety, protect animal welfare, and alleviate pressure on emergency services as Cape Town heads into its festive season.
In an official statement shared on social media, the City made it clear that it no longer designates specific fireworks sites for events such as Diwali, Guy Fawkes, or New Year's Eve.
