Cape Town and the Western Cape have officially marked their most triumphant cruise season to date, shattering previous records across key metrics, including cruise-liner visits, passenger numbers and economic impact for 2024/25, Cape town Etc reports.
A preliminary report released by the Western Cape Cruise Liner Industry, commissioned by Cruise Cape Town and powered by Wesgro, reveals remarkable growth, with the cruise sector contributing a staggering R1.79 billion to the provinces GDP-R a substantial increase from R1.32 billion in the 2023/24 season.
Between September 2024 and June 2025, the region welcomed 79 cruise ship arrivals, 83 vessels in total, marking an 18 increase from the prior season's 67 ships.
